Hawaiianology "Study of Hawaii"
Welcome to the Hawaii article provides information on many different types of knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. There is all kinds of information that is available with instant access, much of our information is from media entertainment, some of it is from social media feeds, so it can sometimes be difficult to organize All this information and learn from it. Most of the documents have been written by those who documented them in a written language, so with Hawaii being primarily in oral and storytelling society, there is a lot that is actually left, not documented. Due to the powers on the island there is mostly a western recollection of what has happened with many questioning if other perspectives and histories have been properly recorded over time.
These articles include a certain amount of scholarship with practical information with in depth essays of People's experiences that hopefully answer people's questions about Hawaii. These articles do their best to go as far back as they can and also do their best to stay relevant in the modern times so research and conversations with people offline and online for various accounts. These documents do not act as absolutes or hard truths as information collection goes. There's always more to find out about just about any subject. These article collections hope to become the Maunakea of knowledge. Now more than ever stories actually do matter. This effort is for people who are trying to put real information into the world rather than just wait for it to pop up, the information is pursued.
In the modern day, it's rare that any student or person would really want to pick up a physical copy of a text and read it. It might seem to be a Hawaiipedia of sorts (Wikipedia) with information that is covered by the group itself that is not impenetrable to mistake, but is relatively reliable compared to what else is out there. The group started as a hobby between people who just wanted to know about basic questions in Hawaii to separate tourism advertisements and the reality of being in the real world Hawaii. The group is thankful that there are many people out there that want all sorts of stories told to separate advertisements from real life. This also opens up the idea that just about any article is up to debate with some people that are never going to believe the content, and some that are never going to be convinced, so everything is taken as critical skepticism.
A Stories Breathe!: The Hawaii we see today is not too far away from the Hawaii that was before. When looked at historically from the origins of the Polynesian explorers to the next wave of Portside Trade to Missionaries, and then Plantations and later Modern Hawaii. I am sharing an experience that is to open the eyes of those who never have seen and open the ears of those who never have heard. A chance to hear some stories that are from many of those from past, present, and the younger ones who will later be all of our future.
Much of these were kept in private from discussion through many Kapuna who have passed on, eldarly of the different ethnicities, and many who cherished Hawaii in their hearts. In their respects of not saying their names only their, stories, recipes, and knowledge of their respected areas are not going to be revealed. Because of this i can not say it is of any authority, however the history of Hawaii has always been passed orally, as a matter of passing information to those who are deemed worthy or the gift of its passing of one person to another.
This practice would be a big part of the local lifestyle in gaining respect of seeing a big picture instead of the short term. Some may even joke and say "Ancient Chinese Secret" but as many jokes it is half true. As I dive deeper into the local roots of those much older than me I come to discover the meaning of oral history. Which leads me to understanding that oral history is not just any sort of talk story conversation, but a way of entrusting information that is seen as only for the family.
Mentioning a family without permission could be seen almost as some sort of socio-economical problem of the old local ways. At some point each story and piece of information I have been able to get will have articles. Hopefully this comes to those who wish to learn more about the way people live as residents of the land, caretakers of the land, and respectful human beings.
