The Local Knowledge Proficiency Test (LKPT) is conducted by Self-Educating for tests of overseas with cooperation of local institutions, Hawaiian Educational resources, and consists of ten independent levels of competence with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. The reason the test exists isn't a government test, not no stamp of approval, and is not even official cause it would take too much money. It’s a concept, it is a way for people—especially those who move here—to check themselves without talking to someone and have reassurance that a highly scrutinized and strict test has been made to show several things: “Do I actually understand this place I live in?”, “Am I living with respect, or am I just squatting on somebody else’s culture?”. The Local Standard of raising children is from Local Culture where there is different households of different children raising systems that are discussed from those who came before in the plantation era where there was a agreement of the best fit for island life way of bringing a child up. Those that did not identify with the Local Culture would raise their kids from a parent-culture of a single chosen Ethnicity rather than choosing multiple culture sources with Hawaiian being a major influence. Locals would diversify knowledge by merging or selecting parts of ethnic cultures of their own and others on the island to create a stronger bonds with those who live on the land and that would be a Local Blueprint of what to follow. Growing up in a Hawaii Household around foundations of locals that have built from the times of the Hawaiian Kingdom has raised awareness of: Western Practices, Eastern Practices, Local Practices, Hawaiian Practices, and Global Practices. Understanding Hawaii Practices surrounding birth helps people build a natural affinity for birth by knowing about it rather than having it be shrouded in mystery. In Hawaii, a Malihini is a Hawaiian word for newcomer, tourist, guest, or stranger, and non-Hawaii citizen in Hawaii. It is specifically applied to foreigners and to those from the "Hawaiian Diaspora" who are not Hawaii Citizens. The phrase that is known in its use was in the ʻolelo noʻeau by saying “Ho’okahi no la a ka malihini”. This translated as a “A stranger for only a day” after the first day as a guest or malihini, the malihini would help with work of the land and household as a "hoa kamaʻaina" familiar of a person born of the land.  Though the term can be applied to all foreigners of non-Hawaiian citizenship, some have projected their own definition on to the word. “howz it brah, you from here? or wut?” is a question that is common and when someone responds with Kama’aina it can actually mean all sorts of things, but back when people still practiced Olelo (Hawaiian Language) it would originally mean “Born in Hawaii”. To a Native Hawaiian speaking in the context of Hawaiian definitions it does not follow someone's residence nor any length of time. But that doesn’t allow for the full spread of what the term has become overtime. For some the Hawaiian Language version is the most authentic definition as being the oldest definition, but it is possible that there are different definitions based on what someone's trying to communicate.
